Unit 4 of 5A    Halloween    第一课时

一、            教学内容:A/P30-31B,C

二、            教学目标:

认知目标:

1.让学生通过课前收集资料和本课学习,了解万圣节的有关知识。

2.能听懂、会读、会说单词Halloweenpumpkin lanternmaskvase, tomorrow, else, change

3.能听懂、会读、会说、会写单词family, thing, needhorse

4.能听懂、会读、会说日常交际用语:What do we need? We need …

   …,please.       What else do you need?  Here’s your change.

5.能听懂、会读、会说、会写句型:

Do you like…? Yes, I do./ No, I don't. I like …

What do you like? I like…

Let's buy…

功能目标:

1.让学生通过本课学习,掌握表达“爱好、需要”的交际功能的方式。

2.让学生通过课前收集万圣节的资料和本课学习,乐于了解异国文化、习俗,拓宽学生的知识面,培养学生跨文化交际的意识和能力。

3.通过本课的学习,让学生学会用英语为节日的庆祝活动作准备工作,如:讨论和购物。

情感目标:

1.让学生通过课前收集万圣节的资料和本课学习,进一步激发学生学习英语的兴趣。

2.培养学生团队合作的意识和与他人交往的能力。

 

三、            教学重点:

1.让学生通过课前收集资料和本课学习,了解万圣节的有关知识。

2.能听懂、会读、会说单词Halloween pumpkin lantern maskvase, tomorrow, else, change

3.能听懂、会读、会说、会写单词family, thing, need horse

4.能听懂、会读、会说句型:What do we need? We need …

四、            教学难点:

1.单词pumpkin lanternchange的读音。

2.单词family的复数概念。

3.词组buy things for…的用法。

4.句型Do you like masks?中可数名词复数的正确使用。

 

五、            教学准备:

1.学生准备:课前收集万圣节的资料,每人做一个面具,要包括书上的动物。

2.教师准备:多媒体课件、准备几个面具和布置一个万圣节的商店。

教学过程:

Step 1  Free talk
1. Get ready for class. And welcome all the teachers.

2. Free talk:

T: What day is it today? It’s Saturday tomorrow. (Drill: tomorrow.)

What date is it?

What’s the weather like today?

3. Game: Happy time    I say, you do.dance, please/ sing please/ skate please/ play the violin/…

4. (Information card)

Revise and learn: Do you like…s? Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.

a. T: Now let’s have a rest. I’m your teacher. Do you know me? Let me check you. What can I sing?

S1: You can sing…

S2: You can sing …

T: Yes, you are right. I can sing the song: ‘We can sing and dance’. Can you sing the song? Let’s sing together.

Ss: Sing the song.

b. Ss guess the things (fruit, food, animal) I like,

T: What … do I like? You can use: Do you like …s ?

最后猜的是马,

Ss: Do you like cats/pandas/lions…?

T: (学生猜不出的时候,可以设计放马叫的声音)Listen, what do I like? I like horses. 引出 horse

What’s this in English? Drill: horse.  

How many horses can you see? Drill: horses.

Ask and answer: I like horses. Do you like horses? Ss: Yes, I do.

c. Talk about the fruit/ food/ animals with your desk mate, Using:

   A: Do you like…?

   B: Yes, I do./  No, I don’t.

   A: What do you like?

   B: I like …s.

d. Learn: mask        

T: I like horses. Look, I can make a horse mask.

Drill: mask

Can you make a mask?

Ss: Yes, we can.

T: Show me your masks, please.

Ss: Show.

T: Put on your masks, please.

Ss: Put on.

T: Oh, look, this is a pig, chicken, duck mask. How nice! (指着学生戴的面具,可以提前让生做书上的动物的面具)

  Drill: a pig, chicken, duck mask.

  T: Do you like masks?  

Ss: Yes, I do.

Step 2 Presentation
1. Learn: mask 

Guessing game:  T: What ..do I like?

Ss: Do you like …s ?

 Ss: learn: masks

2. Learn: horse, pig, chicken, duck

a. T: (Show the masks and Put on your masks, please.)Its a dog /tiger/ pig mask.

b. Drill: horse, pig, chicken, duck

c. Ask and answer in groups. 

T: I like horse masks. What masks do you like?

S1: I like …

S2: I like …

T: Ask and answer in groups, what do they like.

3. Learn: Halloween

a. T: (Show a picture) Look, they like masks, too. Where are they? What are they doing? People usually wear masks at a Halloween party.

b.揭题:Today we’ll learn Unit4 Halloween

  c. Do you know Halloween?
      Ss:(
自由发言) 万圣节的由来:  

d. Listen to the story: the origin of Halloween

T:(总结) Halloween falls on the 31st of October . Its a popular festival in western countries .Such as England and America. People usually have a Halloween party. Children often put on their masks and say treat or trick.

4. Learn: need

Today is the 19th of Oct. Halloween is coming. Would you like to have a Halloween party?

Ss: Yes.

T: So what do we need?   Drill: need, what do we need?

Please discuss in groups of four and make a shopping list.

Ss: We need…

5. Learn: / Drill: pumpkin, lantern, candle, vase,

T:(Show the shopping list.) Look, we need a lot of things. They are here.

Excuse me. Whats this in English?

S: Its a pumpkin lantern.

T: (Show an object.)Look, its a pumpkin.

Ss: Learn:pumpkin)

T: Whats in the pumpkin? Theres a candle.(出示自己做的南瓜灯)

Ss: Learn:candle

T: We can use them to make a pumpkin lantern.

Ss: Learn: lantern” “pumpkin lantern) We also can call it Jack-O-Lantern.

T:(Introduce)
至于南瓜灯也至少有两种说法。一种说是人挖空了南瓜又刻上鬼脸,点上烛火以驱散鬼魂的;另一种说是鬼魂点上烛火,试图骗取人们上当而跟着鬼魂走,所以人们就在南瓜表面上刻上一个嘲讽的脸面,用以嘲笑鬼魂。传说因为首先用南瓜的是一位爱尔兰人Jack,所以人们又将鬼脸南瓜灯叫做Jack-O-Lantern.

Ss:(Repeat Jack-O-Lantern several times)

6. Learn: vase

T: Look, these are beautiful flowers. We can put the flowers in a vase.

   Do you like vases? Are there any vases/ Is there a vase in your house?

Step 3: Presentation

1. Learn: thing” “buy things for…

 (1)T: Do you have all these things? OK. Now let's buy things for the Halloween Party.

Ss: Learn: thing” “buy things for… 

(2) T and S1, S2 make a model.(创设一个Halloween shop

Now I’m the shop assistant. I have a Halloween shop. Come and buy thing in my shop, please.

A: Can I help you?

B: Yes.

A: What do you need?

B: We need …

A: What else do you need?

B: We need…

A: Here you are.

B: How much are they?

A: yuan, please.

B: Heres your change.

                       (零钱)

(3) Drill: change, Here’s your change.

(4) Practise shopping in groups of three or four.

 

Step3.Drill

1. 出示课文A的挂图,请学生尝试谈论图片。

Eg: Who’s that boy? He’s Ron. He's Ben's brother.
Who are the woman and the man? They are Ben’s father and mother. They are his parents. So who are they?  We can say : They are Ben and his family.

Ss: Learn: family

Where are Ben and his family? They are in the sitting-room.

(Look at this calendar. What’s the date? ) What’s the date in the picture? It’s Oct.30th . Yes, so it’s Halloween tomorrow.(Drill)

2. Listen,(watch TV )ask and answer.(do the multiple choice)

T: What do they need?
What does Ron want to buy?

What do they buy at last?

How much are they?

3. Check.

4. Read in different roles.

5. Action. (T and 4 Ss make a model)

6. Read all the new words and sentences on the Bb.

 

Step 4: Practice

1. 如果明天是万圣节,四人小组讨论万圣节的准备工作。
2. Sing a song “Happy Halloween”. I teach you a song.

3. Game: trick or treat? (根据时间,机动)

1. Topics
Choose a festival to prepare: Teacher’s Day/ Christmas Day,…

Step 6:  Assign homework
1. Listen, read and act Part A.

2. Copy the new words.
